FAQ

What comes with my model 3?

Your Model 3 will come with a charger that you can plug into a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Its basically an extension cord with a special plug for the NEMA 14-50 outlet.

Do I need to install anything?

You’ll need to have an electrician install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in your garage or near where you plan to park your Model 3.

How much does it cost?

Unfortunately, that depends. An experienced electrician can answer those questions for you. Typically, the cost can be between $300 to several thousand dollars.

What about a wall mount charger?

Tesla does sell a wall mounted charger for inside your garage that costs $500. You’ll still need a NEMA 14-50 outlet to plug that in, but it does add convenience!

What else should I do?

You should call your utility to see if they offer any special rates for charging your Model 3 at home during certain times.

How long will the installation take?

The installation should take only a few hours, but for bigger more complex jobs it could take all day or a couple days.
